MAHO--TK Events kicked off the first ever World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) Caribbean Event at Casino Royale on Saturday, to end on November 16. According to TK Events Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Thomas Kremer, “We are thrilled to offer participating players more than just poker, allowing them time to explore this gorgeous Caribbean island and take advantage of Sonesta St. Maarten Resorts’ ample amenities.”

Minister of Tourism Ingrid Arrindell opened the tournament on Saturday and welcomed poker players from surrounding islands and around the world. Some 38 tournaments are scheduled, including nine WSOPC Ring Events and the Championship Event, which will pay out a guaranteed US $250,000. The buy-in for the games is $1,675. Cash games are available daily from 3:00pm to 6:00am.

St. Maarten is one of the new international stops added to the 13th season of the WSOPC.

“Sonesta Maho Beach Resort and Casino Royale are up for the challenge of hosting yet another prestigious poker tournament,” said Maho Group CEO Saro Spadaro. “The opportunity to host such a tournament is a testimony to St. Maarten’s appeal as a destination. I am very excited about the partnership with WSOPC and I am looking forward to hosting the first WSOPC Caribbean festival.”
